Members of the Royal Navy Volunteer Reserve(SA) served in the South West African campaign. They also manned ships that patrolled South Africa’s coasts against German surface raiders and helped to clear up the mines laid by the surface raider Wolf. A total of 164 members of the RNVR(SA) served in the RN in the course of the conflict.
